Josué Armas Medina is a Crew Manager at Naviera Armas with a long history at the company. He developed his professional career within the Human Resources department by providing support to employees, specifically those who work at sea.

What has it been like to develop your professional career at Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea? How did you begin?

I began my professional journey at Naviera Armas in 2003, working on personnel administration in the human resources department. Then, after two years, I was offered the chance to work in the crew management department. In 2019, I took on the role of Crew Manager at Naviera Armas, a challenge I accepted and tackled with great motivation and enthusiasm.

What is it like managing a ship crew at Naviera Armas?

Crew management involves coordinating with various departments, such as on-board services, deck and engine services on different vessels. I rely on the support of my fantastic team to carry out this role.

We face many different challenges, as the profiles we look for are more and more complex every day, plus the maritime sector is constantly evolving and every day there is more competition, with new shipping lines entering the market.

At a professional level, what has been your most enriching experience, or what has helped the most with your professional growth?

What I find professionally rewarding is seeing people grow within the company, for example, trainees who began internships on board and then went on to become officers, or even in some cases captain. I believe that Armas Trasmediterránea gives you the opportunity to grow professionally and to evolve, and of course this always comes with hard work and dedication.

What do you most appreciate about working for Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea?

What I most value about being a part of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea is the social role that the company plays in the area we operate. For example, by creating employment or developing these areas.
